Driving Info

Masurian roads are known for having a lot of animals crossing them - especially between Sorkwity and Gizycko which is the last 80km of the route, be extra cautious while driving.

Some turns are not well profiled so keep the speed limit.

this sign means that the area is populated and means that the speed limit is 50KMPH (be very cautious about this, the police really like to give tickets for this). See picture 1.

When there is a speed limit below the aforementioned sign then that speed limit applies. See picture 2.

The speed limit on highways (sign 1) in Poland is 140kmph and on expressways (sign 2) its 120 when the road has 2 Carriageways. and 100 when the road has a single carriageway.

Travel Advice

Important detail: On September 1st the National EAS (sirens) is supposed to go off in memory of WW2, do not be alarmed.

Without knowing the Language we’d reccomend you stick to branch chain shops like Biedronka or Zabka.

Alcohol can be purchased at any location including Gas Stations.

We strongly advise to go to the local farmers market during weekends, there you can get fresh fruits and vegetables.

Groceries

We highly recommend choosing Gdansk Airport as your flight destination if you come from abroad considering it is the closest airport to Gizycko and also has broad car rental choices.

We most often choose WizzAir when flying from Stavanger.
